The Things Yet To Come

As a Christian, I think we sometimes forget that God Himself has brought us in to what it is He is doing. We ask what the future holds forgetting that the Book of Revelation is all prophetic, and it is through the words of this book that God tells us what is to come.

As God’s children, He has given us insight and knowledge to things that has not been revealed to those that are lost, and for good reason, God reveals His truth to His people through His word. But in order to understand His word, we must have to understanding of the Holy Spirit that will come to us only through salvation.

We then take this truth and share it with all of those who lack understanding in the fulfillment of the Great Commission.

I want to encourage each of you to study the Word God has given us and educate yourself in His truth. It will without doubt enrich and strengthen you in your relationship.

Seeing The Truth

The other day as I sat looking at just a few of the headlines in the news, I remember asking myself, “how in the world did we get here?” I’m more than sure that I am not the only one who has asked that question, but more significant than this, where are we headed.

As we celebrated Father’s Day this past Sunday, I like many visited with their fathers, but my visit took place at Post Oak Baptist church where my father was buried in 2020. These visits always tend to bring with them a few tears accompanied by the comfort of knowing that dad is with the Lord.

As I looked around at the church and cemetery and the surroundings, it seemed as if dad would walk up at any time and ask me what I was doing there. In that moment, a thousand memories of growing up at Post Oak Communities flooded my mind. So, what do my childhood memories have to do with the path this nation is on?

I grew up in a very different world then my grandchildren are growing up in. Mine was a world void of cell phones and computers, a time when Sunday mornings meant church, and a family meal afterwards, those things were just a given.

I also grew up when respect was not an option towards elders and parents and when right and wrong were clearly divided into two and only two colors, black and white. That is simply not the case now. We seem to have many different shades of grey, and hidden in those grey areas is where you will find sin and its justification.

I want you to take a look back in the Old Testament at the corrupt kings, their decisions and the impact it had on the kingdoms they ruled, and when you do, you will begin to see just exactly where we are headed.

King Manasseh and King Amon were both idolatrous kings who practiced immoral things, and child sacrifice. They lived and led people in a way contrary to God and somewhere in their minds, they felt as if what they were doing was ok. It was for these reasons that God sent a conquering force to capture the nation of Judah and for the next seventy years, they lived in a Babylonian exile. God judged them, and then punished them for their disobedience.

The story of how God judged a disobedient nation, and its leaders should hold great relevance to us as a nation for we are no different.

I want to make something very clear; I have said it before and I will say it again, I do not see things through partisan eyes, but from a distinctly biblical point of view. Having said that, we here in the United States have leadership that mirrors the Old Testament kings, and unfortunately, we too are being judged for it. The agendas that are anti-god, and support things that go against what God says will come at a cost. Our leadership sees no wrong in pursuing things contrary to God. God condemned the Old Testament kings for child sacrifice and yet our government wants abortion, the Old Testament kings worshipped other gods and yet our leadership gives no quarter for God in our nation, the Old Testament kings along with their kingdoms took part in sexual immorality and our leaders tell this nation that do whatever you wish relationally, it is your choice, and pass laws to support whatever the human mind can conceive.

The reason our leaders and those involved see no wrong is for the same reason the corrupt kings of old saw no wrong, they were under the judgement of God, and their minds were now at a point where truth could no longer be understood.

Those corrupt men lost their kingdoms and the people who supported and took part became captives.

As Americans, we have always experienced a land of plenty, prosperity has been our lot, as long as we kept God at the center of our nation. But as we turn from God more and more, we see shortages, sickness, crime rate going up along with fuel prices, and things of this sort will continue as long as we continue on this course.

But there is good news, at least for those who are saved by the blood of Jesus Christ, the day is coming where we will be taken out of all of this through an unmarked event called the rapture, where we are caught up into the clouds to meet our Savior, Jesus Christ, and those who are left will get exactly what it is they wanted, a place to live where God’s influence has been withdrawn, where they can do as they choose according to their own desires. They too shall receive the desires of their hearts; to live in a place where God can’t tell them what to do.

I say what I say with only regard to God’s word.
